SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A Spartanburg County man called 911 after someone broke into his house and cut him.

The victim told deputies he heard a knock on his door at 10:30 p.m. The incident report states that the victim just moved to Spartanburg County and did not know anybody. He told investigators he did not open the door, but instead, looked out the window and did not see anybody or a car.

The victim told deputies he sat back in his chair while the person kept knocking and a short time later, the person kicked in his door.

According to the report, the victim immediately pushed a couch in front of the door to shove the intruder back out. He told deputies he noticed another person standing by the road and that person ran off. The person at the door also took off, he told investigators.

Before he left, the victim said the intruder tried to stab him. When deputies responded, they reported seeing a cut on the man's left side that required first aid.

K-9 unit was called to the home. The dog was able to track a scent to the intersection of Woodlawn Avenue and North Street, which is the direction the victim stated the men took off in.

The incident is under investigation.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office said there were several violent crimes over the holiday weekend that have kept the violent crimes unit very busy.
