Boulder police are looking for a man who they say walked into a home Tuesday morning and tried to make off with a 46-inch television.

The incident began at 10:50 a.m. when a man in the 800 block of Arapahoe Avenue called police to say that a stranger was in his home trying to steal a TV.

Police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said the homeowner, a 57-year-old man, confronted the stranger, who apparently made his way into the home through an unlocked door.

The suspect ran off and tried to climb a fence to get away. The homeowner tried to stop the would-be thief, but his grip was kicked loose as the man scaled the fence, according to Huntley.

Police used a bloodhound dog from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office to track the man. The dog picked up on a trail, but the suspect could not be found, she said.

The suspect was described as a white man, age 40 to 45, weighing 130 pounds and wearing a blue stocking cap, a blue or plaid sweater, stone-washed denim jeans and running shoes. He did not appear to be a transient or college student, Huntley said.
