Body found in Anne Arundel County house that was damaged by fire

A severely burned body was found Tuesday in the remains of a house in the Annapolis Neck area that was heavily damaged by fire Monday, the Anne Arundel County fire department said.

Searchers using a cadaver dog found the body in a two-story house in the 2600 block of Ogleton Road, where a 62-year-old man lived alone and was unaccounted for after the blaze, the fire department said.

Officials said the identity of the body could not be determined and that an autopsy would be performed. If the death resulted from the fire, it would be the county's first fire death this year, officials said. The cause of the fire remained under investigation, the department said.
