Apartment Complex Workers Help Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect

HICKORY, N.C. -- Authorities have taken a man into custody that they believe robbed a northeast Hickory bank early Monday.

Investigators said the man walked into the Bank of Granite on Springs Road shortly before 10:30 a.m. and demanded money. The robber did not show a weapon and fled on foot.

A police dog tracked a scent from the bank to the Silver Springs Terrace Apartments nearby. Workers pressure-washing the building told police that the man witnesses described had run into an apartment there.

Officers said they went into the apartment and arrested Glenn Wilson.

The suspect repeatedly denied he was involved as he was walked into the Hickory Police Department.

“I didn’t do anything wrong. I didn’t do it,” Wilson told Eyewitness News. “I wish they would get the right person so they would leave me alone.”

Wilson has been charged with robbery.

Investigators said witnesses picked Wilson out of a lineup. They said they plan to return to the apartment complex with a search warrant to look for more evidence.
