Fatal Fire in Crosby Township

About 4 a.m. Saturday morning, firefighters were called to a home on River Road in Crosby Township, not far from the Fernald Preserve. The house collapsed and was destroyed by the flames.

Following up on concerns someone had been inside, cadaver dogs were called in to search among the debris. Officials have confirmed that the body of a man in his mid-40s was found. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday to determine the cause of death. The vicitm has not yet been identified.

The State Fire Marshall, the Crosby Township Fire Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department are all investigating the incident. It's still not clear how the fire started or if there were any working smoke directors in the home.
