Dogs used in missing woman hunt

Search teams with dogs and horses have been trying to trace a woman who has been missing for more than 24 hours.

Valerie Jane Williams, 58, was last seen at her home in Wrexham on Wednesday at lunchtime.

Police have launched searches for her in the Erddig area using the police helicopter, dog search teams and mounted officers.

House to house inquiries are being carried out by officers in an attempt to track her down.

She is described as 5ft 4in of slim build with reddish grey hair.

She was wearing a light purple hooded top with a stripy top underneath and brown trousers. She may have been wearing a light purple jacket.

Supt Neill Anderson of North Wales Police said: "We are putting a serious amount of resources into this search.

"The search teams were out until 2am this morning and resumed the search at first light.

"We are using horses from the mounted unit as well as heat seeking equipment. We are also speaking to neighbours and other people in the community."

Anyone who may have seen Ms Williams or know her whereabouts is asked to contact North Wales Police.
