Teenagers murder librarian in Plett

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with the weekend murder of a Plettenberg Bay pensioner.

Neighbor found Johanna Blignault’s body at her home in Wittedrift on Saturday afternoon.

The two suspects are 16- and 17-years-old.

Police said Blignault had asked a friend to give her a lift to the shop.

Her neighbor raised the alarm when they did not see her return.

Friends and concerned community members then went looking for the 77-year-old librarian and found her body on the back porch of her house.

The Blignault family’s pastor, Chris Du Preez, said the suspects who have been detained are also from Wittedrift.

Sniffer dogs later led police to nearby shrubs where they found several of the deceased’s possessions.

Police said they may add rape to the teenagers’ charge sheets, depending on the outcome of an autopsy.
