Drowning victim’s body found

ROGERSVILLE - A diver with the Florence Police Dive Team found the body of a Giles County, Tenn
Lt. Roy Ellis of the Alabama Marine Police said the body of 47-year-old Tim Garner was found in water about 30 feet deep, near where authorities said the man sank after jumping off his pontoon boat Tuesday afternoon.
Ellis said search and rescue personnel had been dragging for the body in an area of 100 feet around where Garner went under. He said earlier in the day cadaver dogs had indicated a strong scent in three locations within that 100 feet radius.
“(The diver) pretty much found him right on the spot where the dog hit,” Ellis said.
Authorities said Garner and his teenage son had been on a pleasure outing Tuesday when they jumped in to cool off.
Ellis said they did not anchor the boat and it drifted with the current, and neither Garner nor the son was able to catch up with it.., man around 5:20 p.m. today, ending a more than 24-hour search, authorities said.
